Major airports around Riverside
Ontario International Airport (ONT), about 20 miles northwest of Riverside, is the most convenient air travel choice in the area. It takes less than 20 minutes to get from there by car. However, traffic in Southern California is sometimes very bad and the ride could take a bit longer during rush hours.
There is a free shuttle service from Ontario airport to the two downtown hotels: the Mission Inn (call 909-784-0300 ext. 5036 for shuttle reservation) and the Marriott Downtown Riverside (call 909-784-8000 at least 3 days before your arrival).

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the biggest in Southern California and one of the busiest in the world, is about 70 miles west of Riverside (about an hour and 15 minutes by car, much longer during rush hours, morning and afternoon).

John Wayne Orange County Airport (SNA) is 45 miles southwest of Riverside (45 minutes by car, rush-hour traffic not included).

Other options include the Long Beach Airport (LGB), 60 miles to the west (an hour or more by car), and the Palm Springs International Airport (PSP), 60 miles to the east.

Please book your flight as early as possible. August is a very busy air travel month!
We recommend that you arrive by August 26 - you don't want to miss the reception!

Transportation from the Airport

A special conference rate has been arranged with SuperShuttle for transportation from/to LAX ($50) and Ontario ($25). For details on the offer please see the voucher .

All the major airports have door-to-door vans (shared ride) at your service all the time. Go to the "door-to-door / shared-ride vans" waiting area, where a representative will arrange your ride.
Other means of transportation, such as taxis and limosines, are more convenient but could be expensive.
All major car rental agencies are active in the airports. For more information and directions, see the section "By Car" below.

Back to the Airport
Shared-ride van reservations for the return trip should be made at least 24 hours in advance (early reservation is highly recommended).
Following is a list of airport transportation companies in the area:
SuperShuttle   800-700-1983  Online reservation. Refer to this voucher to get the conference discount rate.
Super-Express   877-397-7271  Online reservation

By Car

The following directions and map should help you get to the UCR campus from anywhere around.
Directions to off-campus hotels should be available on each hotel's individual website.

Parking at the UCR Campus
From the UCR Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) Rules and Regulations:
"Every vehicle, unless otherwise exempt, must display a valid parking permit when parking on UCR property.
Parking permits are the property of the University, are non-transferable (for use by the registered permit holder only) and may not be resold. Violations of these regulations may result in disciplinary and/or criminal prosecution. When parking on campus, permits must be properly displayed so the permit number and expiration date are clearly visible to Parking Compliance Officers."
Regulations are enforced in the parking zones from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., 7 days a week.

To get a parking permit, follow the signs on University Avenue for the DPF 2004 Conference. From 7:00 AM until 9:00 AM on Friday, Aug 27, these signs will direct you to the parking lot (Lot 24 on the parking lot map), where an attendant will be selling the permits. After 9:00 AM Friday, the signs will direct you to the Information Kiosk. The permits are $20 and are valid for the length of the conference. Pedestrian signs will direct you from the parking lot to UNLH (University Lecture Hall, the plenary sessions location) and to the International Lounge, which is where the conference headquarters is located.

Attendees with a valid parking permit from any other UC campus may get a parking permit for no charge, valid for any of the blue zone lots (Lot 24 is the closest to the International Lounge.) Please go to the Information Kiosk off University Avenue (from the downtown hotels, take University Ave and turn right at the first traffic light past Highway 60/215) to get your permit.
